AA battery box for small mics like CA, AT853, 406x?

(1/1)

heathen:
There are obviously plenty of battery boxes (and small pres) that run off of a 9v battery, and there are also some that run off of a little 12v battery.  What I don't think I've seen, though, is a battery box that uses AA or AAA batteries.  Do such battery boxes exist (that would work with the small mics like CA14, AT853, DPA 406x)?  If not, why?  If so, where are they?

Fatah Ruark (aka MIKE B):
I'm guessing: AA and AAA are 1.5V each so you'd need 6 of them to get 9V. 5 AA's takes up a lot more space than one 9V battery.

Gutbucket:
Audio Technica.  Each powers a single mic though, not a pair.  Shure as well (I think).

goodcooker:

The AT 8531 Powering Module runs off a single AA and powers AT 8xx (831,853,etc) series mini mics as long as they are 3 wired mini XLR. It takes one unit per mic.

I also used them to power my chopped Naks for a bit but ditched that idea to go with PFAs to save space in the bag.

I assume you could run a pair of CA or other mics as long as they were wired the same but two of these would be the same size as a CA preamp.

Met someone who worked for Earthworks at a show a few months ago who mentioned them testing out a battery module that ran on a AAs.
