Title: Cheapest new Tascam DR-100MKIII
Post by: wp420247 part II on May 24, 2017, 06:02:41 PM
After a several year hiatus from recording concerts I've decided to get back in.  I need a new recorder as my JB3 is too old to be of service. I think I've settled on the Tascam DR-100 MKIII as my recorder to record from my p-mod UA-5 (member?). Anyone have the scoop on the cheapest place to get one.  Seems the price from vendor to vendor seems set at $399 (Sweetwater, B&H etc).  Any insight would be helpful.  Also are there any other recorders that have spdif inputs that I should be looking at. This is my first post on here in about 8 years.  Been out of it so long I feel like a noob again.  All your tapes are belong to us!

Personally, pending some more user reports, I would consider getting a MixPre3 and ditching the UA-5 entirely. It'll cost a bit more than the Tascam, but would give you a small and easy (high-quality, good customer service) set-up...

There's one for $312.00 at Amazon. Probably brand new but open box.

The mix pre 3 looks nice but I need the spdif input for dat and mini disc transfers of my personal archives via my stand alone units.

just rig up your JB3 with a 5V USB battery and keep it rolling - best thing for transfers!

Software for jb3 won't work on operating systems newer than Windows xp
