I do not have one of those specifically, but Cfox uses them and has no issues at all. I didn't learn about these until after I bought a few from B&H. I use the Impacts (NP-F975) from B&H still. When they bite the dust I plan to replace them with these Lenmars though.

I have this battery, and I run HDD and CF all nite with the lights on, and still have enough power to run a latenite if needed. And the pins don't come out the batts either.  I wouldn't feel comfortable with anything under 7600

I have a few of these 6900 mAh batteries.   No problems whatsoever.    For the price they're damn easy to replace if they'd ever need it.

I bought a couple of these once, from "Red Hot Buys", who was selling them for like $20 each.
The batteries charge/discharge fine, but I found that they don't seat all the way in the 7xx recorders.  When you slide the battery into place, the locking tab did not have enough clearance to pop up.  So you could slide the battery out without pushing down the locking tab...
not good.

The battery housing on these generics must be just a tad bigger than the original or something.

Like I said, they work fine, but I wouldn't trust that situation in the field.

Sorry to hear that.  I went back and looked at each of my batteries and they all seat in the battery slot perfectly.  No overlap or obstruction.    Happy customer here but I guess with most things YMMV.

FWIW   forumssounddevices.org has a running thread on batts and cards.  I find it easy to go there to see what other folks have found.

Neither thread on the SD forum is current anyways.  Much more real world discussion here on ts.com over the years about batteries and media than on the SD forums for sure.

What's the consensus on the best charger? By best I mean quicker than the 722 and gives it a full charge.

Here is the largest capacity you can get and they come with a 3yr warranty.
http://thomasdistributing.com/shop/lenmar-lis970p-72-volt-7800mah-batterybrrechargeable-lithium-ionbr-replaces-sony-npf950-npf960-and-f970b-p-1255.html?SP_id=&osCsid=et0avc804bo7vsqq4si3oua9q0

FYI, I bought this battery last May, ran it for 7-8 shows and always had plenty of power.  Started the night last night with 8v after a 24 hour charge and the battery died an hour into the show.

Going to try and send it back to Thomas Distributors to get a new one.  Fingers Crossed.

Hey Bean, can you measure how tall that battery is? I have the Lenmar listed above but need something that will at least give me 4 hours of recording but has to be shorter than the Lenmar-lis970. I may take that off your hands if the price is right.

any way to discharge these batteries other than just running till dead?

i picked up a couple of generics from ebay and i they have the problem that was mentioned earlier about not locking in place.  never been a real problem, but i do not trust them out in the dessert for the festival 8.

i think i am going to get a couple of new ones - any current suggestions?

**edit to add**  eek... around $70 a pop... maybe i need to just bust out the dremel and shave a millimeter or two off the back... is this safe  ???  i figure i would just thin it a tad so the pin comes up and locks in.

Check out the Lenmar battery above as they have better than average quality control on their batteries.  The LIS970P is the big daddy at 7800mAh.  $51 and free shipping to boot.  Such a damn good deal i'm buying one myself right now.
