?'s on settings for LD mics
« on: January 12, 2004, 12:24:29 PM »
I have been recording mostly with the blumein pattern with my set of Behringer B2-Pro mics. my question is what about the settings on the back one is a -10 db cut and the other is a low frequency roll off. when is it advisable to use either of these settings? Im more interested in the low freq roll off.  the switch looks like this
---  (switch) ---
                        \

how do i tell if it is on or not?
the show is over go home please.

yah its often referred to as the bass rolloff, basically when your bass is super overpowering in a show.  Think Claypool, think electronica, basically where that bass is causing a huge spike in your recording.

My rule for using a high pass setting is if the bass is hitting you in the chest, use it.
Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.

if your switch is showing a flat line, then it is off.
I use it when there may be too much boominess or if the bass is just going to be too intense.
