If I chose to DIY, what type of wire would be used?

Something middle of the road...

Is this for soundboard patching, by chance?

Yes, I was at Peabody's Sunday, and the sound guy only had 1/4 out.  All the other places in Cleveland have RCA out.  So I need to make a cable, or buy one for Peabody's shows.

If you already have a 10'-ish length of cable you use for patching from RCA-out boards, you could just get a couple 1/4 | RCA adapters.  For example, if you have a 10' length of 2 x RCA-male > 3.5mm stereo, just get 2 x 1/4"-male | RCA-female adapters.

That's exactly what I have for board feeds, then you ready for anything except XLR. You can even get a couple of XLR > RCA adapters and then you ARE ready for anything.

Your best bet is to use a RCA > 3.5mm cable as your main cable and then get all the adapters you need.  Here is a pic I took of all my SBD patch gear:

Exactly what I do.  I have an Altoid tin or two full of adapters.  It is much lighter and takes up much less space than multiple sets of cables.

Looks like the direction I'll be headed in.  I have an entire try of power tips, so what another with audio ends...

Thanks to everyone for the input

Don't know if you still need it but I have a Canare one with either generic or Neutrik connectors.

Sorry, didn't mean to offend you.  I legitimately answered 2 questions, in 2 very recent posts, with regards to someone looking for something.  One post was asking for proprietors to get in touch with them?  If there are any technical questions or experiences I can share/help out with I'll be glad to do it.  I think it is just coincidence.  :-\

To be fair, one of the three was properly posted in the Retail forum making TSers aware of available product, just like all our other vendors do (including you).  And the second and third were in response to TSers explicitly asking where they could find a product that theslygoose can provide.  Hardly soliciation; more like answering people's questions.

so technically not solicitation, but we can all see where it was going, its not a issue just abrupt and i am feeling like being an ass today
