The 1/8th plug has 3 connections- tip (left), ring (right), and sleeve (ground). Splitting the signal passively is fine, I guess, but not ideal. But in order to do this effectively, just make a 1/8" > RCA cable, then jumper two more RCA jacks from the original RCA jacks. Plug both of them into each amps input and you're set.
