Title: Ratdog Soundboards (2005) ?
Post by: danlynch on October 20, 2015, 02:30:45 PM

I just found a couple of discs in my desk which are Ratdog dated 08/07/05, and its from Charlottesville VA.
The guy who sent this to me is pretty well connected in the music scene down there and he sent me these years ago.  I just never had any interest in listening.
Anway, popped them in and they are definitely soundboards.  This guy had enough juice down there to get boards for a show like this.

The only entry for this show in db.etree is a FOB, which this definitely is not.

A couple of questions for Ratdog experts:
1.  Did Ratdog sell/release boards of shows back in 2005.  If this is just that, then its nothing and I'll file them away.
2.  If this show is not in any kind of circulation in SBD source, if there interest in a torrent?

From the archive.org page:

>Trading Non-Official Soundboard Recordings

RatDog allows and encourages the trading of soundboard recordings of its concerts on and prior to September 6, 2003, and those not recorded for release in the Official CD Series. Internet downloads of concerts on and prior to September 6, 2003 are permitted provided there is no charge for the service, even if such charge is only intended for the purpose of recovering the costs incurred to provide the recordings.
Trading Official Soundboard Recordings

Trading and distribution of soundboard recordings of concerts on and after October 11, 2003 that were recorded for release in the Official CD Series are not allowed

I looked through the ratdog torrents available at bt.etree.org (including those with no seeders) and your show is not listed. Nor does it appear at LMA.

Also, I could not find any commercial releases or downloads of the board available. So it looks like you would be good to go at either etree or the LMA.

(edit from original post....

Well, I blew this one. Even though you explicitly stated 2005 as the year of the show - I was looking for '95 :o

Sorry for the misunderstanding

While the earlier policy made it seem like there was a gray area, the 2007 update seems a little more clear. The policy may need furthur clarification. This also from the LMA link:

Limited Flag: LimRange (No SBD's from Oct 1, 2003 onward)

IMPORTANT July 2007 Update from Charlie Miller: "I spoke with my friend Peter Ammerall and he said that there was a misunderstanding in the Ratdog policy which I (charlie miller) helped with. He said that he doesn't care if shows after oct 2003 go up on LMA, just no SBD's after Oct 2003."

So this is off-limits whether or not the show was actually released via official SBD.
