Title: Iphone recording apps

Hello,
        I'm asking for a friend that doesn't really record but when he does go to shows he might use his iPhone but  he says he cant change from MP3 because his phone app doesn't let him...what is the best free recording app there is for I phones? Thanks for any input.scott

I like Shure’s Motiv Audio even when I am not using my MV88. It is free.

why does he not want to record to mp3? mp3 and wav are both going to be low quality thru the phone's mic

He records in MP4 format..

I like Shure’s Motiv Audio even when I am not using my MV88. It is free.

I concur, this is my go-to with the d:vice and DPAs. Though I do find the level meters a bit inaccurate.

Voice Recorder Pro and Apogee MetaRecorder are both better,
the metering is only one of the things that are better. My opinion, feel free to try yourself. These are free too.

MetaRecorder is very nice, I agree, but you need to pay if you want to record more than 60seconds. But a good chance to try it out before deciding.

its way cheap though, 5 or 10 bucks
