Adobe Audition CS6 Track splitting question
« on: December 15, 2014, 11:17:58 PM »
I have rather a newbie question since I normally use CD Wave Editor to split/track my 16/44.1 files. I am looking for a simplified way to split a 24/96k file and resample/dither to 24/48 all in one step if possible. I already have all the markers placed and the saved. Any assistance would be very much appreciated. It seems all the YouTube tutorials are geared for Adobe Audition V3.

Thank you,

David

I'm assuming they haven't completely thrashed the work flow but it takes more than one step to track and resample...  at least AFAIK.

Tracking is through placing markers in the marker list, merging those markers into tracks (a function in the marker list window), then batch processing there in the marker list to save those tracks.

Once you have the tracks then Batch Process from the main File menu selecting the track files and setting your choices along the way through those tabs (it will save whatever parameters you select there for the next time).

It's not the most intuitive layout but I like the processing (at least in v3).

of course they may have completely jacked the flow up by v6.

Dave

Here are some screenshots to make it simple, i had a hard time knowing what to do when i first started using Audition.
I like to use a separate program to go from 24/96 to 16/44, but this method works and sounds good to me.

Well that is an improvement from v3, which does not (as far as I've been able to tell) allow you to convert bit depth and sampling in the save process (you can convert format but don't have the flexibility to choose the resolution in WAV as the screen shot above shows).

ED, you're the man!! Thank you kindly master...

Glad i could help, just don't forget to drop a track at the beginning and the end of each wav you are splitting.
I still make this mistake after years of using this.

Ah yes, I remember seeing that in one of the tutorials. I went ahead and removed what looked like the markers that appeared when I appended the original tracks together. Is that necessary also?

Don't know what you mean by this? When you merge the tracks together, you don't need to remove anything.

I'll take it one step ahead also. You can cut on sector boundaries and export directly to 16/44.1 flac files.

No problem boss, just keep cranking out the hits :-)  Also correction in that last picture, on the sample rate quality,
push slider all the way over to 100%

There is a mark on the start and end of any segment.  The start of the first and end of the last are ones you would use in splitting anyway.  Any marks left in the middle do need to be removed so a track split isn't made there.

I agree, when I saw those markers in the list below I thought best to remove them. Super simple to delete them.  I ran a show last night and all worked like a charm. Thanks again y'all!!
