Im new to 24 bit audio - so here's my first question.

Recorded a stereo board feed and a pair of mics on a Tascam DR-70D. 24/44 - 4 mono channels.

I noticed after importing my 4 mono tracks into Audacity that - upon playback, I was getting a lot of red light/peaks on the Audacity meters.

I assigned each channel as Left and Right...and used the "Make Stereo Track" feature. (resulting in a pair of stereo wav files.)

Now I only get peaks where they actually seem to be in the recording.(looking at the wavform)

I remember having this issue when trying to make 4 track recordings with 16 bit material..(that is, I was expecting those peaks)

Just curious whats happening here...? (why do they disappear after seemingly minor adjustments?)

I'll retrace my workflow on my next set - but I think that's what im seeing...
