As an aside, while the 4041s are great mics, it is not the case that the 4051 is merely a modular version. It is the next tier up in AT's SD mic line, along with the 4053 (hyper) and 4049 (omni). True, the caps are removable and switchable between the bodies, but they are better (and much more expensive) mics than the 4041. The 4051, 4053 and 4049 list for $599 each and the 4041 lists for $299, which would be a big price difference if it was just for modularity. If you are patient, you can often pick the 4050 line up used on e-bay for between $200-300 each. I have pairs of each of these purchased that way. If you are going to look for used mics, note that there is now a 3rd iteration of that line (e.g., 4051, 4051a and 4051b) and that they are not interchangeable (i.e., you would not mix them in a pair). Not surprisingly, the older models are less expensive.
