Quick release mic adaptor
« on: June 08, 2017, 02:54:53 PM »
This thing is really handy when using a t-bar in low pro situations--clips on in a few seconds.  Likewise for breakdown it's super-fast.  Great for festival settings.  One half screws onto stand and the other on to the t-bar.  (Nothing more obvious than spinning a t-bar onto a stand....)

That's a nice time saver.  My portable tripod (for portability and stage lip use) is actually a camera one so has a relatively quick release system.  The few times I use a real tripod I forget how much faster and easier that is than spinning the bar on (plus the threads can get flakey over time).

I recently purchsed one of these but made the mistake of threading it too tight onto an Onstage Stands Flange Mount. Had to use a tool to get it off and scratched it to hell.
But it still works well and I'll just be more careful next time..  :angry2:

I find these also useful for the (cheap) cameras I'm currently using for doing multi-camera work that have short battery life.
This quick release lets me leave the rest of my mounting set-up while doing so, although I may have to align the camera again when re-attaching.

One thing to note is that they do have a little bit of play.

I don't have this piece, but I usually loosen the stand and spin it into the clip anyhow...

Sorry, I just posted a quick link.  I actually got the On Stage brand, $10.95 each at Sweetwater.

A Manfrotto Rapid Adapter is good for this, too.  Among other things (I find that they are pretty useful)...
