Question about a custom cable
« on: August 04, 2005, 02:14:11 PM »
Hi there,

I have a RC battery that I would like to use with the PS2 and AD20.
I read I need a mono 1/8" plug.... I have no idea about this, totally newbie on cabling, the question is, could I use standard stereo plugs?

(hope this is not a stupid question  :-[)

You should not use the stereo plug. The tip and ring on the mono plug are the pos and neg of the power cable.

Make a trip to radio shack and get the right adapta-plug tips and an adapta-plug Y cable. The diagram on top of the ps-2 and ad-20 show if the tip needs to be pos or neg, and the cable and tip are clearly marked so you can see which way you connect it.

You can even get the female connector so you can plug the rc batt right into the cable.

i found the spacing on the ad20 and the 90 degree adaptaplug seemed to not fit that great
i recommend a straight plug if you can get one
Mics - AKG ck61/ck63 (c480b & Naiant actives), SP-BMC-2
XLR Cables - Silver Path w/Darktrain stubbies
Interconnect Cables - Dogstar (XLR), Darktrain (RCA > 1/8) (1/8 > 1/8), and Kind Kables (1/8f > 1/4)
Preamps - Naiant Littlebox & Tinybox
Recorders - PCM-M10 & DR-60D
