wavelab resample issues
« on: July 24, 2003, 12:34:16 AM »
okay, i am not gonna give up on this laptop rig!

this is the next issue i am having.....

i go to resample a 48khz wav file to 44.1khz. the original wav is
1,071,304KB and the new size is 984,261KB
that was set 1

now the kicker, set 2....
the 48khz file is 1,269,125 and when i try to resample it, i get an error at about 88% that says that wavs cant be over 2GB. i have the split option set at 2000MB, but i dont think that anything to do with it. why do i get this error?

now this is really messed up, i had to split the file with cdwav, then resample it, then merge the two files back together with soundforge, this is way messed up, what the hell?

now can i just load the 48k file into soundforge and select "resample" > "set sample rate, do not resample"? or will that not work?

can you go into the vx pocket control panel and select 48k as the sample rate and record 44.1 in wavelab? so the card reads 48 and wavelab is doing the on the fly conversion.

that doesn't make sense cause the 44.1 wav should be smaller than the 48.

JON,

This is an easy fix.  Go into your properties, and change the default temporary file from 32-bit float point to 16 bit.  This should resolve all of the issues you are having with the 2gb file limit.  The temp file creates a 4gb file in 32-bit as oppposed to the actual size!
