Stealth Mics
« on: August 28, 2003, 12:39:26 PM »
I'm going to be stealthing a show next week, and I was just wondering what kind of mics to use.  I have a pair of at933 hypers but I may be able to borrow a pair of DPA4060s.  I'd usually just use the DPAs, but this is a club show without a balcony, so I'm going to be standing in the sweet spot in front of the stage.  I imagine there will be a whole lot of talking going on down there.  Would it be better to go with the hypers?  Or since they'll be so low anyway will it not matter?

I may try to run both, since it's all so small, but if one will be clearly better then I want to carry in as little gear as possible.

If youre pretty sure that there's going to be a noisy crowd, Id say run the hypers.... under the right conditions, the dpa's will blow the AT's outta the water, but like you say, its not the right conditions.

if you can, just run both with 2 decks... and then you'll have two to choose from when you get home. ive done this a few times recently, running my Oktava cards stealth and just putting the dpa's on my glasses and running into a JB3
