Wind Screens
« on: August 28, 2006, 06:50:36 PM »
I just want to give tapers a heads up on something that I tried that worked great as outside wind screens.  I use MBHO's and I have a set of screens made by wind tech., just simple slip ons.  They are standard foam screens.  They are not the large DPA's or Sure people use, just regular studio screens.  Needless to say they aren't good for windy conditions.  So I did something in a pinch till I get off my ass and buy better screens, I improvised.  I purchased a set of baby booty sock, the knid for infants.  I turned them inside out with the fuzzy side out and then streched over top of my regular screens perfectly.  I got two pair of baby socks at walmart for 2.88.  I taped Gov't Mule and the Allmans last night in the wind and it worked perfectly.  Now I was under the tarp, but I was close to the right side and the wind was whipping in like crazy at the begining or the show and there wasn't a noise on the recording :o.  Hey for 2.88 you can't go wrong.
