from sd themselves

Hi Nate,

We recently ran some tests with the Sony NP-F970 battery (6600 mAh) with great results. Powering one condenser microphone while recording to the hard drive, the Sony battery achieved a total of 7 hours of continuous record time when fully charged.

What sample rate and bit depth did you use?

also, shouldnt a 6800mah battery be bigger in physical size than a 6000mah one?

reason i ask is, i got a 6000mah one w/ my 722, and its stamped on the back that its 6000mah, well then i ordered a 6800mah supposedly off of ebay for only 26 shipped and its not stamped 6800mah anywhere and its the same physical size as my 6000mah one ???

was that just a sales pitch ?

still not bitching, i can easily get 6-6.5 hrs from a 6000mah one, and for 26 shipped, thats a great deal IMO

i have a question for you 722 folks:

ok, here goes, my smaller batteries for the 722, i have a 1850mah, and 3000mah and a 4600mah and they all lock into the lion battery slot, however when i place my 6000mah and my 6800mah batteries into the lion slot, they dont 'lock' in, i can remove them w/ out depressing the locking pin

does anyone else have this same 'problem' ???

i couldve sworm they locked in before, but i could def be wrong since its hard to see that locking pin, i always just pushed a pen at it and removed the battery

anyone?

ALL my batteries lock into the 722.

I don't see how the batt. wouldn't lock, unless it was not fully plugged in.

If the batt. is not allowing the lock pin to pop up, maybe you can file the plastic batt. case to remove just enough plastic to allow the pin to pop up.

BTW...were you recording at 96/24 during your batt. tests?

My large battery no longer locks in also. It did when I first got it but after a few shows it doesnt anymore. I guess it expanded from the heat of charging or running 5hrs under the 722.

WTF?

i got more time when i ran backlight on w/ them ???

im gonna keep trying, and fwiw, the batts are 970 ones off of ebay

ive seen alot of those on ebay, but do you really think theyre worth 2x the money over the generic ones ??? my generic 6000mah ones hold a charge quite well, ive been getting 6.5 hrs off of one w/ phantom on, backlight off, 24/96, and writing to the 40GB HD

im running more batt tests now just to see constant runtimes

FWIW, i think cycling the batts about 6 times is what its all about, you HAVE TO cycle the batts at least 4 times for them to maintain charges, ive done my fair share of lion studying and this is the most common point to keeping your lion batts for a long time and holding steady charges

if so, im gonna start buying the genuine sony ones :)

first off these are higher capacity 6600 vs 6000.

the main reason I've stuck with the genuine because of quality - read too many posts and even had one generic have the little female ends that the pins go into come out while swapping. for me the extra $20 is well worth the piece of mind (and the extra 600 mAh)
