SBM-1 with oade 24bit line rebuild
« on: December 03, 2005, 08:51:31 PM »
I am thinking of adding an SBM-1 to my  current rig  below and also would like to use the SBM-1 for
stealth with some type of mini cardioid's.

Nak300's  --> Nakamichi MX-100 --> NJB3

Question :

since the mic preamp is disabled through this mod , how would that effect my abilties to
run stealth mics with the SBM-1.  Could I just run them through line-in ?

Thanks

I have run my DPA4060's into the line-in of my of modSBM with no problem. Always had plenty of clean gain in the modSBM to drive them.

I would never recommend running mic in anyway.  If running line in with that setup doesn't provide enough gain, throw some line transformers in the chain. Cheap gain and takes up little space. I don't use a pre, and that's how I do it.

I have been running Nak CM100 into a modSBM1 for the last 6 months.  I run them into the mic with the filter switch set to 0.

I had a un-moded SBM1 before and was always running into the brick wall. Man what a difference the mod makes. Amazing difference between the mod un-mod'ed version.  I've never tried running directly into the line in.

It's a mic pre/line by Oade.   I picked one up in the yard sale.
