Recommendation on A/D Converter -Mic2496?? Pros and Cons
« on: December 11, 2005, 05:16:32 AM »
Hi,

i am looking for a 24 Bit Preamp for stealth taping. I am curretly using MMA6000 > modSBM1 > D100.
Is the Core Labs Mic 2496 recommendable (setup will be Mic2496 >MT2496 then) or should i rather keep distance from that unit?

Thanks for your oppinions

youve got the stealthy preamp already,....it aint gonna get much stealthier than that...as far as a 24bit ADC(which is what I think you need, not a preamp).I dont think there are many ADCs that are really stealthy(other than the sbm1. and its only 16 bit)..so the 2496 is perhaps your best option for a small , stealthable ADC/pre combo..if you were doing open taping...id suggest the mytek stereo 192..I havent heard too many things that are bad about the mic2496...other than it being moody with the jb3. Now the customer service at Core Sound is an entirely different ball of wax.
