SP-SPSB-1 Question
« on: December 23, 2005, 07:05:39 PM »
I am going to be running a AT853 > SP-SPSB-1 > JB3 setup.  I am curious as to if the level control option on soundprofessionals.com is worth the extra 20 dollars.  Thanks!

I wouldn't care much about this option, if you are talking about what i'm thinking... But the bass roll-off option can be quite usefull, particularly in a indoor venue when taping non-acoustic music, and if you plan to stack or get close to the PA.

You're going to need a preamp in that chain unless you're recording really LOUD shows. The battery box doesn't boost gain going into the jb3. I would recommend getting the level controls (my bb has them, along with the bass rolloff), because once you get a preamp you may find that the AT853's are too hot for the preamp, and the bb will help you attenuate the levels going to the preamp.

You won't need the extra option, just rely on your levels of your jb3... unless you want another knob to fiddle with in your pants with.

Crowd chatter isn't terrible. But yeah we did have roving packs of hoes camping under the stand.

Thanks for the help guys.  Yeah, I am definitely going to add the bass rolloff to it.
