UA-5 AC input question
« on: January 03, 2006, 05:44:43 AM »
I have been powering my digi-mod UA-5 with a Memorex 7.2v battery, and when I tried to run it off of the Roland AC adaptor that came stock with the UA-5, it didn't work.  Has this every happened with anyone? Could it be because the AC adaptor is feeding it 9v instead of 7.2? I'm kinda clueless. :-\

I have run the UA5 from 6.5v - 13v reliably (7.2V NiMH, 7.4V li-ion & 12V SLA).

Check your AC adapter w/ a multimeter and make sure it is working properly.

7.2 is fine...I've ran mine on 7.2 and 9.

Come to think of it, I don't think my stock AC plug works either.     :-\

Will do.  Strange thing is, I used to run the UA-5 solely off of the AC adapter before i got the battery.   :-\

Check that you've got the correct AC adapter.  It is : negative center, positive surround (9V DC).

This is the opposite of the standard AC adapters!!!

Ya, i checked that.  It is the AC adaptor that was included with the UA-5, whcih is why I don't understand why it won't power it up now.

providing pure dc power (from a battery) will likely result in better sound quality than would be obtained if you powered the ua5 via the ac adaptor . . . . .  fwiw

I bought a new digimod from Doug a year and a half ago or so and the wallwart was bad.  Doug replaced it.  Just an FYI.  Maybe this is common?
