Looking for a HT receiver. Have an older Yamaha for now. Needs to be silver ;D. Wifey factor.

OK. How about a 3100ES or similar Onkyo, or something else under 750, and it don't need to be silver anymore. Anyone ???

I remember reading that sony has changed their new receivers so that only the 7100 and above have the digital op amps which made the previous years line (2000ES, 3000ES, 5000ES) so popular.  From what I have heard the components in the models below the 7100ES do not sound nearly as good...
