Title: What Battery Charger Do I Need?
Post by: stevetoney on July 05, 2010, 11:29:29 PM
I'm having recharge problems with my Oade M118.  The charger for the 118 hums a bunch and isn't recharging my virtually new replacement batteries.  I've heard others say that Oade charged them a ridiculous price for a replacement wall wart, so I don't want to go that route if I don't have to.

The 118 has two sets of three 6V batteries which are connected in series...that is, three 6V cells connected in series putting out 18V nominal...two of them.

So what do I need to buy to recharge these guys?

Nobody has replied and that's OK.  Just wanted to follow-up my own message by saying that I discovered that my problem wasn't the charging unit after all.  I just realized that I'd forgotten that I can't power my CMC5 mics, which need 48V phantom, with the m118 that supplies 18V.  So obviously, the batteries weren't supplying enough voltage (which I initially thought was an undercharge) so the sound through the mics was severely distorted.  I keep forgetting that I can only use my CMC6 mics with the m118!  Doh!
