Called Thomas Distributing (http://thomasdistributing.com/shop/-maha-powerex-96-volt-230mah-nimh-rechargeable-batterybr1-battery-pack-p-505.html?SP_id=&osCsid=jjt1iuq58difh479lee0a568i2) today about a Maha Powerex 9.6v NiMH (overvoltage 9v) I bought from them which now appears sort of melted as if it overheated. The case is slightly distorted around the internal bit like heatshrink rather than smooth.
I told the human who immediately answered the phone about the appearance and that it works fine but I figured I better give them a call to check. The guy asked me when I bought it (last summer) and what my name, phone number and zipcode were. Said they have a year warranty and a new one would be on it's way this afternoon. No questions asked.
I'm very impressed. Thomas gets my repeat business for sure!

Another big thumbs up for Thomas D... I've been dealing with them for a few years now and they have always backed their products well. Since switching to low discharge cells, I haven't had a failure, but when I used to using the mimh regular cells, they would always honor their warranty. They even arranged for a charger to be exchanged after it exhibited flakey behavior. They took my work for the intermittent problem.
They operate in Illinois, where I am, and there's a guy there named Eugene who is part owner. He'll talk to you and steer you right.
