R09 optical out to Firewire 410 spdif in
« on: February 20, 2007, 11:03:14 AM »
I'm trying to figure out how to get 2 more useable inputs on my Maudio Firewire 410, and my soon to arrive Presonus Firebox. The 410 can record 2 analogue inputs and 2 digital from one spdif rca in/out. The Firebox i believe allows 4 analogue and 2 digital using the same rca spdif setup. Coaxial or optical inputs are available from the software mixer/control panel.

I have an R09, and I'm wondering if I can use the  miniplug optical digital out into the Firebox to allow for a stereo input, giving me the possibillity of 6 track recording. Something like this: 2 mics into aBeyer MV100 into the R09 digi out to Firebox. 2 mics in Firebox preamps and 2 more through another preamp into Firebox 1/4 balanced ins. I would need a mini to rca or mini to optical cable, or some kind of converter thing like the Maudio C02.

thanks for any help in advance
Ambrose
