Title: V3 wrap recommendations?
Post by: kevin_hatton on April 08, 2012, 09:03:39 AM
Hi guys!

I've been using an old, unused diaper bag as an equipment bag for about a year and it works really great.  Lots of compartments and is waterproof.

Unfortunately, my V3 gets bumped around quite a bit and I was wondering if anybody has ever wrapped their V3 with something (foam, mesh, etc) to keep it from getting all beaten up by the other stuff in your bags (or beating up the other things).  My V3 gets a bit warm while taping and so it probably needs to allow heat transfer as well.

Thanks

 -K

I keep mine in a portabrace RM-multi bag with a thin piece of foam to add some cushion.
It sits in the portabrace fairly "loose" and while it does get warm/hot. I don't worry about it
unless my black gear bag is in direct sunlight in 90 degree or better temps. On the flip side when
the temps dip below 30 degrees it helps keep the batteries from freezing.
My gear bag is packed so the contents are not bouncing around much if any.

I recall some folks using knee braces from the drug store/pharmacy to encase their equipment; unfortunately I don't recall what models their equipment was. A search here may return some usable results though I often get no hits when I expect many and quite a few when I expect none. I still haven't figured out ts's search foibles.

< an advanced search with "knee brace" in quotes returned a few hits where folks have used a ladies knee brace to wrap their V2s and 3s - even a couple  with pictures - http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=141654.0 & http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=141074.0  Read the second one for some heat retention discussion. >

I've got mine wrapped in bubble-wrap.
