Weird files on dB.etree?
« on: February 01, 2019, 04:28:47 PM »
I pulled down a ton of stuff no problem but for a few shows, torrents, when I opened the download files they are alternating mp3 and ogg files, even though I know I hit the torrent button and not either of those formats? Hoping it’s a glitch or user error. 4/21/84 GD for example.

Thanks!

Well, the archive.org torrents (not db.etree as in your title) have all the file types in them. With most torrent apps, you can select which files you want to download.

That said, I find it easier to just download the FLACs as one zip file not using the torrent. I think I only tried the torrent one when a user ask a question about it.

There's no option in the menu to direct download flacs that I can see.

Tap the drop doww arrow next to “FLAC files” and you’ll see a button to download labeled with the total number of FLAC files

That's because the original SHN files were uploaded. Pre-FLAC days. "Shorten" files.

It's always seemed odd to me that there even is the torrent option.

Downloaded TLH works great to convert shn to flac. Yes I know I’m stuck on n 2003. Baby steps.

If folks used it for newly posted items with high demand, it could ease the load off the Petaboxes?  I think archive.org can handle their traffic, though.
