Nomad Jukebox question
« on: August 31, 2006, 02:20:06 PM »
I have a Nomad Jukebox 6GB (The original one, not the 3) available to me for 100 bucks.  Right now, im just using a Sharp MD-MT15 Minidisc for capture.  I want something with which i wont have to flip tapes, etc.

Will this original Nomad get the job done for me?  I either do SBD patches, or i run Giant Squids -> Battery Box -> Mini Disc...

Could i expect the same quality and results as i was getting on my recordings to Mini Disc, or does this Nomad not even work for this type of application.

Thanks for all of your help guys!

however for not much more you can get a jb3 used and have digital in (for upgrades down the road) and a much larger HD along with firewire out and usb vs just usb

XLR Cables - Silver Path w/Darktrain stubbies
Interconnect Cables - Dogstar (XLR), Darktrain (RCA > 1/8) (1/8 > 1/8), and Kind Kables (1/8f > 1/4)
Preamps - Naiant Littlebox & Tinybox
Recorders - PCM-M10 & DR-60D

Yeah, I'd definitely go JB3.  As I recall the original JB didn't use the rechargeable lion of the JB3 and required like 4 AAs.  And the battery life just sucked spinning a harddrive on 4 AA batts.
Take care of the tapers and the tapers will take care of you.

100 is a bit much for the original NJB considering its cons. Swapping AAs, even NiMH, is a pain. I only got 2.5 hours recording time out of Energizer 2500 mAh batteries. Also it's only USB 1.1 so file transfers are really slow. If you're going to pay that much just get the NJB3.

Or spend around $140 and get an Iriver H120.
