Soundboard help
« on: February 17, 2006, 03:16:00 PM »
When u guys patch off sbs do u run straight to ur jbs (or w/e ur using) or do u run through a pre/amp gain. I have a ua5 and jb3 and wondering what to do. I was thinkin about gettin this set jb3>1/8'' - rca>1/4'' adapters  or rca xlr adapters. Wil that cover me on most boards?

i would use the ua-5 in front, it has a much nicer sounding A/D - i think most people run into the rcas in the back

Run the SDB>RCA>UA5>NJB3 and start the gain at 1 to 2 o'clock. Below is a link on a thread I made when I made my own Soundboard patch kit. Good luck.
Peace

I only patched a board once with the UA5 I had (because I only had it for a week) but I seem to remember needing to have the gain down around 8 o'clock, so starting at 1 or 2 is not necessarily good advice.  All boards are different and have different output levels.

Best thing you can do is get patched in while house music is playing.  If the house music is peaking around -36db you're in the ballpark for the show.

YMMV.
