this from the M F
 site

Quote
The CAD e70 Modular Dual-Capsule Condenser Microphone has an omnidirectional capsule for flat near-field and ambience pick up, and a cardioid capsule for proximity boost and off-axis rejection. The complement of the CAD e60 and the second of virtuoso Al Dimeola's 2 favorite mics for acoustic guitar, you can use the CAD e70 mic to capture your instrumentation with exacting detail. As well as being an ideal acoustic guitar mic, the e70 is excellent for capturing other stringed instruments and as an overhead cymbal mic. Features include field-effect detection, transformerless drive, a dual-frequency hi-pass filter and 2-position attenuator. CAD includes an elastic shock mount, stand clamp, and a windscreen with the e70 modular microphone.

MILAB VM-44 Classic~> Silver T's~> Busman PMD660
News From Phish: Will tour as opening act for Widespread Panic for Summer
hahaha never happen, PHiSH is waaaaayyyy better the WSP

They both ain't got nothing on MMW... Money spent wisely if you ask me...

FYI, it is a kick ass recording of a bunch of pretend-a-hippies talking.

yes I know CAD makes some nice mics

I think I saw a ship date of June 9th on a couple of sites
however I did see a review of these mics
and they are included int the Al DiMeola Acoustic Guitar mic kit

Used them the other day actually but then ended up going to alpine valley this weekend for dave then saw incubus in chicago tuesday night and just got home last night. I recorded a local 70's/80's cover band practice last tuesday. I recorded them outside of their garage it actually turned out pretty well for what I was working with. I first ran my at4041's then left everything as is and switched out mic's to the e70's and rolled with them for a few songs. They were a tad bit more bass heavy if I recall but still sounded decent for a set of mic's that I paid 99 bucks shipped for...

Ill cut the samples up and throw them online for some info..

/edit.. insert crappy cellphone pic here..

Had time today to snip em up before I get out of the office here..

ones that end in 4041 are of course pulled from my at4041sp... other ending in e70 is the CAD set.. take care

also, the band is a bunch of guys who just got together not too long ago who put on a couple shows a month at some local bars.. so take it easy on them haha..

so I listened
and my ears prefer the CAD e70's
but both sources seem distant
may be getting closer to the source  MOTB style would help and not so high for a garage band with no crowd keep em between waist and chest high

I think what you may be hearing in the AT's is the low end roll off and the enhanced high end presence curve
the e70's seem much more flat by comparison

I think they sound great
especially for low budget mics

thanx for the samples

peace

oh maybe I'm wrong since the 4041's seem very flat too-

but I do prefer the e70's still

I honestly need better playback devices before I really say which I prefer. I agree that the 4041's seem to roll off some of that muddy low end but when listening in my vehicle I still prefer the 4041's as of now. I agree that the mic stand did not need to be as high as it was but I was just tinkering around and figured I would give it a go. I will give them another workout (maybe at an upcoming outdoor fest here in the peoria area next weekend). Thanks for the reply though buddy. I am in the market for either some cheap reference speakers or finding a decent 'vintage' receiver (as I am broke and dont have a large budget for this) and borrowing a set of older speakers my old man picked up back in the day and is no longer using.

I will keep ya updated if I do get away with a decent  pull. But I do agree for a set of mic's which I snagged on ebay for under 100 bucks they dont sound too darn bad.
