I have used electrical tape on my old ca14s, and I would NEVER DO IT AGAIN!!!!! Send them to darktrain and he will tech flex them professionally for you on the cheap ;)

Techflex Flexo F6 self wrapping split braid would be good for pairing the cables together.

What split would you suggest?

It's split down the entire length of the slightly overlapping braided wrap.  You can pull-out or re-wrap the individual wires inside it as you like, regardless of the terminations of them, instead of having to thread those through a tube of woven wrap material which does not have the longitudinal splt.
