H120 Battery question
« on: January 23, 2006, 11:39:29 PM »
I was wondering which is best, to allow the battery run down completely before charging or to charge regularly despite the battery level.

i only recharge when the battery is completely empty.
so i try to avoid the memory effect.

hey, hase somebody experience with the 2200mAh mod? the stock version has 1300mAh.
where to get that battery and what about changing with the original. how long does it play/record with the new one? (+rockbox :) )

whatboutbob has a 2200 mah ipod battery in it, www.misticriver.net  has  some topics about it. i believe you have to switch the polarity on those battery's.

you can find them on ebay

There's no need to discharge the battery fully (Lithium Polymer batteries don't suffer from memory effect).  I've seen recommendations to charge the thing before it's flat in order to extend the battery life.  I don't know if that's correct, however.

I chucked a 2200mAh in my H120.  Mentioned the results here:

http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=53912.0;all

...but basically I got 15hrs recording out of it.  Will come in handy with a festival i'm hitting up tomorrow. :)

Mine's just an ipod battery from ebay.  As Weazel mentioned, there's a good guide on how to do it over at misticriver.net...just be sure to switch the polarity.

Just be warned that some people have had issues with the 'cheaper' battery swelling and killing their hdd .  I haven't heard of it happening for a while.  I opened mine up again just the other day to check, and it still looks fine several months on.

PM me if you've got any q's.
