Grace mic trees
« on: August 21, 2009, 01:29:26 PM »
If you subscribe to the Grace newsletter, you might've seen this already. Hope the recordings surface, I'd love to hear them!

from Grace Design Newsletter August 2009:

Recently, jam band heroes PHISH played a sold-out 4 night run at the favored local venue Red Rocks Amphitheater. Meanwhile, we've been putting the finishing touches on the Spacebar family of microphone positioners, including the latest configurations: a Blumlein bar, a Decca Tree and a Surround Tree. While these systems aren't quite yet available, the concerts at Red Rocks proved to be a great maiden voyage for the Spacebar Surround Tree. Michael worked with the band and crew to set up in front of the main mix position. Using 5 Sennheiser MKH 8040 cardioid condensers atop the Spacebar Surround Tree, feeding an m802 preamplifier with our A/D converter module, some fairly rare and fantastic 5 channel recordings were captured. Its too early to know if these recordings will be available for release, but if it does happen, it will be through the band (Phish) and not us.

The Grace SpaceBar is absolutely superb and I have both lengths and will also get the centre mount when it comes out.

I have been talking to Michael Grace about the extensions to the series - and, if the engineering is up to the the SpaceBar standard (which I don't doubt) then it will also be superb.
