CM3s with windscreens.

Thanks for keeping this thread updated... I'm on the waitlist for a pair of CM3s and am going to DIY a windscreen of some sort.  What are you using?  If it's DIY, can you post a picture?

I'm using the included foam screens, and for outdoor recordings I add a set of TBrown's Dead Muppets.  These two models should also work - I plan pick up a spare set at some point:

Thanks!

Bumping back up to the top to ask how you guys feel about your DIY mounts after having used them for a while?  Any suggested modifications or "wish it hads" to your builds?

How do you feel about not having the ability to vertically adjust angles offered by the stock Rycote mount?

1. They are great, easily the best shocks I've used, but that's because of the Rycote lyres and nothing to do with my work.
2. I specifically did not want or need the angle adjustment because I wanted to adjust the whole bar at once with a posi-lok clutch.  That, and I saved almost the cost of one INV-7 mount.
I am hitting my head against the walls, but the walls are giving way.

Posilok was the piece I overlooked.  Now I get it.  Thx

It arrived in today's mail. Here are a few pictures.

They were made by Adam Dau at http://www.skgrimes.com. For them this was project 9740.
Anyone may freely use this design including for commercial purposes.
Here is the final version including the precisions given to Adam in reply to his questions.

I never saw how much these custom mounts/plates were, so I just sent an email to the company listed above to see how much it would cost to get ONE [1] of these exact same custom mounts made, to go along with this Rycote Grey Duo-Lyre :)
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1054453-REG/rycote_40136_model_duo_lyre_pro_19_34.html

After finding out that I would HAVE to buy the INVHG-mkiii Shockmount + Grey Duo-Lyre separately[$120 total], I am POSITIVE that it's going to be MUCH cheaper to have the custom mount made from above + the Grey Duo-Lyre bought separately! It's only $40 for the Grey Duo-Lyre + whatever it costs for ONE of those nice Aluminum, black powder coated mounts :) I ALWAYS use a small Leica 1/4">1/4" Ballhead on my INV6HG shocks anyway and plan to do the same with this Grey Duo-Lyre setup[that's strictly for my SRS Combo Mounts], so not having the swivel base that the INVHG-mkiii has won't affect me at all :)

I wish FollowinBob made these things too :)

Thought I'd post a link and a few pics of the newest SRS design, the SRS Duo Lyre Base. The one in my pics is the 1/4"-20 version. He also makes a 3/8" version as well! They also come WITH the Threaded Brass inserts and the M3 screws. Scott though of everything on these! FWIW, I contacted the same company thetjcb did and they wanted $95/1 or $200/3 of the Aluminum Bases that he got done from that NYC Company :) They are badass, but there was NO WAY I was spending that much for a professional looking duo lyre base! I wanted to go this route because I wanted the stiffer/grey duo lyre, and to purchase it and the INVHG mkiii base would be $120. However, buying these for only $20 from SRS, you can get the duo lyre itself[black or grey] for only $39/each, so $60 TOTAL, so HALF of what they'd cost new if you were to buy the Rycote INVHG mkiii base + Grey Duo Lyre all separately like you HAVE to!

Plus, the SRS Base + Duo Lyre weighs OVER HALF of what the INVHG mkiii Base + Duo Lyre weighs! Anyway, here's the link so I don't have to keep repeating myself. Enjoy! And contact Scott[SRS Recording Services] at: srs@srsrecordingservices.com , if you're interested in these killer looking bases! I LOVE how much more compact they are than the INVHG mkiii bases are too, along with them weighing HALF as much! Pair them with a small Rowi/similar Ballhead like in the pictures I took in the link below, and you have an even better swivel than the INVHG mkiii IMO! I have a small Rowi ballhead like that on every shock that I own!

EDIT: 3/8" Version available to purchase here :)
