Topic: Sony Portable D100 issues - help needed

I purchased a D100 off ebay and it seems in very good condition. It has no problem recording etc
but when finished, i rewind and it chews up the tapes. i tried it 3 times with the same type of blanks.
These are plastic DAT tapes. the TDK DAT tapes for audio recording to be precise.
Is this typically an issue with my DAT or could it be because of the media.

Are you waiting for it to unload the tape and for the screen to flash" open" before you take the tape out?

I would say if it's happened with 3 separate DATs then it's highly likely the machine and not the media.

If you haven't cleaned it since you got it, give it a run-through with a dry-clean tape and a manual wet-cleaning.

Then, for kicks, I'd try an expendable DAT to see if the problem persists.  If it does, it's the deck, and best bet is to send it in to Paul at Pro Digital for repair.
