Title: Anyone any experience of these or like to comment? Boya BY-M8C mics
Post by: caitjim on October 10, 2018, 02:36:08 PM
Hi

Ive just had a friend email about these mics

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07DPJMXMG?ref=em_1p_0_ti&ref_=pe_1966441_325198601

Ive got a Tascam Dr40 and wondered if anyone had experience of them or any opinions on them. I want to use them for live music recording. Would they be noticeably better than the inbuilt mics on the Tascam?

Thanks in advance.

No direct experience but the following quote from the product description would keep me away without published frequency response specs -

quote " A wide frequency response and high SPL rating results in full, clear audio reproduction for speech "

Reproducing speech is drastically different than reproducing music.

I suggest you consider grabbing the Studio Project C4 mic set from the Yard Sale (http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=187845.0) if you're okay with full body mics. If you're more interested in miniature mics I suggest finding a smaller recorder and looking at CA-14s or AT853s. All three of these options will dramatically improve the quality of your recordings.

Sorry for the unsolicited advice.
