Good price for...
« on: July 01, 2003, 12:52:02 PM »
What would be a good price for a MP-2 and an ADC-20 with Battery Packs? A guy i emailed sent back asking me for an offer because I turned down his first offer. So what would be a good price to offer?

Based on vague recollection, I've seen MP2s going for around $400-450 and ADC-20s going for around $175-225.

As for the battery packs, depends on what size, cables included, age and usage, etc.  Considering they're so easy to make...I'd sell 'em cheap.

I usually give discounts for selling bunches of stuff together because it's much less hassle than selling each piece individually.

Hey Geoff - what's up, have yourself a super-duper lowballer on this gear?

$600-650 is a very good price for an MP2 and ADC-20 from a buyer's perspective.  Add some $$$ on for the batteries/cables and it's still a very good price.  If I was looking for this gear, I'd jump on it.

If someone is giving you shit about pricing, tough - let 'em buy it somewhere else.

Hope it all works out, Geoff - I thought you had someone lowballing you.  Make what you feel is a reasonable offer - worst he can do is say no, right?

Curious - what was the seller asking?  No problem if you'd rather not share.

if you dont mind me asking what was the total for the p mod ua-5? with shipping. I'm bored out of my mind at work so i'm making an excel file with all my costs with shipping, so i know how much i need to have in the bank to buy the rest of my rig.

Well I got a 7-pin cable too, but there wasn't tax and shipping was about $15.

So without the cable. $565 (about).

I thought it would do a better job tightening up the low end on the 140s. I actually talked to Craig T. He had some experience with both mods and actually owned a pair of 140s once as well. He suggested the p-mod, he thought it would be a better fit.... I also asked Oade and he thought the w-mod would be nice as well. They love the soundstage on the w-mod over there. After talking to both of them, I didn't have a clue which one to get. Ask Craig :) .  Having a less then stellar playback system, I thought the more detailed sound of the p-mod would sound better in my car and at home too

But in the end I don't think I really could go wrong. Both have +'s and -'s.

Another question. Is there any waiting period for a modded UA-5?

Depends on how busy Doug is. When I ordered one he was out of town so it took about 2 weeks. They don't keep the MODs in stock, they do them as needed.
