HDMI cables
« on: December 16, 2008, 10:07:53 AM »
So I purchased some HDMI cables back in 2007 when we got our HDTV and I hated the cables.  They were too inflexible and would constantly fall out of their ports (literally just slide out).  So I'm looking for some inexpensive HDMI cables that are very flexible and wont put any stress on the connectors themselves.  Any tips?  I've been looking at Amazon and don't even know where to start since there's so many options.   I need two cables, preferably 6 feet.

samsung tv?
was a "common" issue with lots of their lcd tvs

i have philips ones and they seem to work fine

side note i had to have a service tech come look at my tv and he said hdmi cables are a waste
that the reg old rca comp ones are just as good but companies tell you hdmi is better
i know hdmi is easier but better i am up in the air on since i don't see or hear a difference when i switched
bottom line is i am glad i didn't spend a shitload on cables
Mics - AKG ck61/ck63 (c480b & Naiant actives), SP-BMC-2
XLR Cables - Silver Path w/Darktrain stubbies
Interconnect Cables - Dogstar (XLR), Darktrain (RCA > 1/8) (1/8 > 1/8), and Kind Kables (1/8f > 1/4)

Corps like HDMI because it enforces copy protection.  You can get 1080P out of component, but they won't support that.

It's a toshiba DLP.  I do have my HD cable box plugged in via component and it looks fine, but moving my tv to see all these cables piled up is frustrating for cleaning and the sort.  I'll check out the links and pick up some HDMI's soon, thanks guys!

Best place for any home theater cables is Monoprice.com.  Here is a good HDMI cable they have in stock right now:

Has any one ever did a HDMI cable comparison test. I am also looking into get some HDMI cables for my PS3 and cable box. I was looking at the cable that sony sales for the PS3 and also comes with a usb cable. It is going for $70. I was looking at it this way we all spend so much money for mic cables and other cables for hour gear. But when we look at a HDMI cable to go from hour HD tv that we spent $1,000 or more. We look at spending $10 or less for the cables. Why is this ?

I bought three 6' HDMI cables and a HDMI > DVI adapter from monoprice.com about 1.5 years ago, and they have been great.
All plug snugly in the ports on my 32" samsung LCD, as well as anything else I've plugged them into.
The DVI adapter is great for plugging my powerbook into the LCD.

From what I've read, since HDMI is a digital signal, either it passes the signal properly, or it doesn't at all.
No need to spend $$$ on expensive cables.

Bingo.  And on top of that, all the expensive cables are exactly the same as the cheaper cables, just with higher markup (or fancier looking jackets).

Anyone know of a place that sells an HDMI cable < 3'?  I'm going from my tv straight to a wall outlet directly behind it (my denon unit controls all my video too)
