Mix-Pre troubleshooting power light won't come on
« on: June 21, 2018, 01:26:01 PM »
With either the external battery which has always worked with it (and is charged) nor the internal AA's (alkaline).

This is an original Mix-Pre. It worked flawlessly for 5 recordings in NOLA then had a phantom issue at DnCo 6-11. then 6-15 kindms and I had it powered up fine with mics and the same battery.
With external nothing happens, no power light, can't get a slate light or when the p48 gets pushed ON no lights blink. With internals, no power light, but the slate light and when the p48 is pushed on the lights blink.

This unit belongs to kindms and of course it is in my possession when it malfunctions.   yuk!

Any ideas?

Edit to add: I tried brand new AA"s last night and was able to get the power light to come on and send a signal from one mic, tested each channel sems OK on internals.
Still will not power via 2 diff USB batteries. Maybe I have a cable issue?

Any one have ideas? or an experience like this?

Are you powering from a battery with a USB "C" Output? If not you will likely have issues. This is only referring to the MixPre 3, and 6.

sounds like a cable . you are taking about the sd mix pre (pre amp )? or a mix pre series recorder.

the old MixPre mic mixer/pre-amp yes. It is a hirose to USB connector, Simple enough to buy and hope that is the issue. It doesn't seem like the unit at this point since internals run it. Thanks for your input, it is confounding as it ran like a champ on the one battery for 4 events in sweaty clubs in NOLA last month (its' last time out).
