Title: Goal Zero Sherpa 100 Battery?? Anyone using this?
Post by: 404 Not Found on February 05, 2015, 12:17:23 PM
Anyone using these type outboard battery supplies? +/- review?

I had not seen any reviews using this in the Audio/Video trade. but 4-5 star reviews for everything else.

2 USB source outlets and a 12V as well.  Optional solar panel charger.

Every now and then I see a price that is lower than a Tekkeon and am looking for a backup as well as a 2 USB port powered supply.

98 Wh for $350 is an insanly high price!

You can get a bixnet battery with 160Wh for $210:

Totally agree on the price.  Always keeping an eye open for a store liquidation or online auction-consignment.

The modular design has an appealing look plus it has optional solar charge capability.  I have 2 Tekkeons as it is for 5v USB, but I was curious if anyone has used or owned.  Insane price, no doubt.

You can buy solar battery chargers and/or solar panels and a panel "controller" that can be used to charge batteries

Note that higher end panels they sell take 17-35 hours to fully charge a 150wh battery

Solar still has a way to go to be practical for taping but a user here has used an industrial panel and controller to run a campground at a festie

You need an industrial panel not the gimmick panels they are selling

Update: They do sell a 90W panel that would probably do the trick but at $450 is another complete rip off - you should be paying around 1/2 this for a 90 W panel

If you don't mind burning cash (literally taking a 20 stack and lighting it on fire) then maybe Goal Zero is a wise choice.

It was a question of curiosity on my part.  Not that I need this item, but was interested if anyone has or had used them.
