Let's say you are using a Sony PCM-M10 recorder with a CA Ugly Battery Box and you have a set of CA-11's and a set of CAFS microphones. What microphone would you use in the following concert environment. You would be recording a loud concert 15 rows dead center on the floor from the stage. Here are the venues:
1) Outdoor stadium 30,000+ people
2) Mid size indoor arena 15,000+ people
3) Small concert hall 1,500+ people.

Are the CA-11s omnis or cards?

Omnis

If that's your position then definitely omnis

The CA-11 omni/battery box/PCM-M10 is exactly my setup. Sounds good in all those situations.
I tried the CAFS mics when a pair was being sent around for TS members to try out. I was very disappointed in the weak bass response and thought they sounded tinny. So the CA-11 would be my pick in just about any situation.
