Digitizing cassettes - A/D
« on: February 18, 2008, 03:52:37 AM »
Hi there,

I have got it in my head to digitizing many of my old shows. I have a Mac and a Edirol UA-25 and a borrowed Nakamichi MR1. The UA-25 is acting strange - only letting me tape mono, so wondering about an upgrade (or getting it modded if that exists)

Any advice? Thanks in advance,

Use the PMD-660.

The UA25 is capable of recording in stereo, though I don't have any specific suggestions as I've not used it before.  I'd read the manual, double-check my settings, cables, ensure the DR-3 is putting out a stereo signal, etc.

I have a Mac and a Edirol UA-25 and a borrowed Nakamichi DR3.

Make sure to record in 24bit, for more editing headroom. There are plenty of threads here dealing with that part. If you're anal, go with 96kHz as well, since you have the gear to do it.

And adjust the azimuth on the Nak with a plastic screwdriver, plenty of threads on that too.

Good luck with fixing the UA-25!

Hi all,
Tried the UA-25 at work with new Edirol drivers and it works perfectly....so I don't think it was to blame. Probably the driver I am guessing, but will work backwards along the chain to confirm.
Thanks again to all for advice.
