Haha, Scott. You'll have the $ when you ditch your ULN-2. I'll check out John Kelly's at CL or VACO next week.

Luvean, acoustic music should tell you more about how a unit sounds than most PAs could ever hope to.

Buy it and test it yourself, then report back.   :P

Is the difference between 24/48 and 24/96 pretty large?

Oh, I'd say it's around 48 kHz or so.   :P

Ahh, the sample is in another thread - I'll check it out when I get home. If John doesn't mind giving me the SPDIF out of the 410, rather than going to DAT, I can test it out. Of course, to do your test requires that I run Spark and not DP4 ... maybe he'll want to run 4021>FW410, or I can test it out if there's an opener.

All to be determined.

i think the human ear can hear the difference in the right environment...the 24/96 studio dvd-a's that i have v. some that are 24/48, there is a noticeable difference...obviously not a scientific test as they are different recordings, etc.  ... not sure whether taping a PA, especially from the section, there is a worthwhile difference...but i bet for what moke tapes, you can hear it.

Why the hell would I want to run 4021>FW410???  The MC012s are so much better... ;)

I'm up for any kind of tests you want to try.

I would care less about the mod's if someone would come out with a lappy or hd recorder with spdif in...heard the new mac 5's have it?
