Phoenix Gold optical cable
« on: February 01, 2005, 05:44:15 PM »
After having a jb3 recording ruined by what I'm guessing is a problem with the optical cable (a cheapie), I'm ready to pick up a Phoenix Gold cable.  Can you buy these local (Best Buy, Circuit City, etc), or is it pretty much an online buy?

thx

you sure the cable caused the problem?  Frequently digicable issues with the jb3 can be traced to a bad fit between the cable and the jb3 and can be fixed by grinding the side of the jb3 down a bit to let the cable seat into the jb3 better.

hey john,
those don't come with right angles do they?  and are they just toslink to toslink?  so you'd need the mini adapter right?  can't really tell by the pics.  looks nice and beefy though.

dnsacks, yes, I've already ground down the case, thanks though!  I've had many nice recordings, but I hooked it up to catch my wife playing the piano, and it sounded horrible.  Messing with the opti cable seemed to change how much popping was in the recording.

John, I can snag a brand new one for just a couple bucks more from partsexpress.com (unless I'm mistaken and yours is new).
