RCA > XLR or RCA > 1/4th
« on: December 14, 2006, 11:29:45 PM »
When I get my R4 I'm gonna be using a lot of RCA sbd feeds. But the R4 only has the XLR/Phone combo jacks. I wanna get custom right-angle cables.

Is there any sonic difference between the two? I know RA 1/4 will be a little smaller than RA XLR. But XLR is a more secure connection.

Any opinions on silver clad vs. canare?

I personnally haven't run Silvers yet(picking up my first set shortly)... But everyone who has, swears by them...

Once they're burned in, they supposedly make your mics really open up and come alive...

They're a little more expensive than the star-quads but I've heard that they're well worth the extra coin...

Talk to Nickspicks, he's making Silvers at a great price, terminated however you'd like including RA Neutrik and I wouldn't doubt RA 1/4 also...

His cables look great and aren't to bulky... He techflexes them together for you to keep it clean...

I've always wondered about using silver clad for non phantom applications. I guess people really like them as home stereo interconnects...

Sorry, I wasn't even thinking about non-Phantom applications, like board to R4(basiccaly an interconnect)... I wouldn't even know if there would be a difference between the 2 applications, I just have heard the fan-far of Phantom applications...
