I think Chris has said around 30 hours. I use 20 hours although I use that gear less these days and probably change it earlier than that just because I'm not sure how many hours it had been.

Strange, I've gone over 40 hours on one battery (Energizer Industrial 9V) and still had around 3/4 charge (from my days in TV, I've always changed batteries at around 50-60%).

I also change batts out before they are dead. Why push the limits, right? :) I was told around 30 hours for my old 9100. But I just used regular old Walgreen 9v's :)

Dont use cheaper batteries! Get rechargeable Maha 9.6 volt batteries. They are much better than using cheap batteries cheap batteries can be noisy...

+1.

The Industrial Enegerizer batteries were what I used to use back in my TV Audio days.  That said, they've always worked well for me.  If I ever went the rechargeable 9v route, I wouldn't consider anything other than the Maha's.

Can somebody expalin that ..why cheaper batteries are noisy...I replace them every show and usage is about 3 hours the most....but I have a new energizer battery at home...I will test it at the next show....

i use most time "normal" 9V Blocks but not the cheapest ones, more like Varta and so on ... never had issues.

if i didn't used the preamp long time i always used a new one.

maybebe i go the way with rechargeables too, i will record lots more stuff this year, so its the reasonable cheaper way imho ...
2015 rig: CA-11 -> CA-9100 -> PCM-M10
2016 rig: Sony PCM-M10 + SP-SPSB-4 microphone plug-in power supply +  SP-CMC8 with Low Sens mod
[backup: CA-9100 - Tascam DR-05 Firmware 2.0 + Yamaha Pocketrak W24]
video 2016: Casio EX-100 HS (same as Olympus Stylus1 - but much smaller - japan import not availiable in EU)

I've been buying US made Duracells in bulk.  $1.15/each in lots of about 100.  At that price no reason for cheap batteries
