More UA5 Questions
« on: February 03, 2007, 03:54:44 PM »
Sorry about all these questions, but i couldn't seem to find the answers using the search function...

1.) If I'm running SP-C4s into the XLR inoputs...do i need to do anything with the LoZ/HiZ button?

2.) When using SP-C4s do i need the record source button to be on digital or analog?

3.) Do I need to do anything with the monitor switch button when running C4s?

4.) when running C4s...should I have the XLR gain knobs turned all the way to the left?  Or are these the knobs that I fiddle with to get the levels right?

I am running SPDIF into a Sony M1 and am not sure If i am supposed to adjust my levels on the ua-5 or my M1?  When I used to patch out of other UA-5s with SPDIF I was getting whatever levels they were sending my way?

Just got this unit and want to have it understood before I head out to a show next week...

Thanks for any responses!

Didn't get a manual and for some reason I can't get the manual to DL off of Edirol's site!?

I also figured so many foolks use this thing that I would easily get an answer here if I asked.  ;D

A read-through of the manual would probably be the best thing for you:
http://www.taperssection.com/reference/pdf/Manual_EdirolUA5.pdf

Note that if you're recording to a DAT via S/PDIF, then the UA-5 will be controlling the levels.  Also, you should probably have the ADV switch on the back set to "off" since you'll only be doing 16 bits.  Guess you'd only be truncating the signal otherwise, but still . . .

edit:sorry, Brian beat me to it.
