Fozzy is making me one of these:

Plus, check that sony digital converter in the yard sale... might be a possibility.  Otherwise, sony makes an 7pin -> mini toslink cable (never seen one, but heard they are fragile), and you could go either CO2 or Hosa box to convert from coax to optical.

Tickets are dead to me.  Except the ones I have, don't have, and lost.  Not to mention the ones you have, don't have, and lost.   And the ones that other dude has, doesn't have, and lost.  Let me know if you need some tickets, I'm happy to oblige.

For stealth or open?  For open, a Hosa ODL-276 will do the trick.  For stealth...it's just one more box to carry around and power and you're probably better off finding another solution.

does the coax mod disable the 7pin i/o? (never worked with 7 pins before)

well, on a stock there are 2 7pin i/o's - one male, and one female.  If your coax mod is like mine, then it physically replaced one of the 7pin i/o's.  The other one is still there... I've never used 7 Pin either, but I am quite sure it does not effect the other 7 pin i/o.  At least I hope it doesn't!

I'll let you know for sure when I get the cable from Fozzy.

Edit: OK, I think Fozzy told me that his was a coax mod SBM-1, and he said he's used 2 different 7-Pin diy cable to record for 9 hours one time flawlessly, and 3 hours flawlessly another time, so I'd assume that it does not disable the other 7-Pin I/O.  Hopefully he'll chime in and let us know for sure.

It was something I hadn't considered, and now you got me all worried that it isn't going to work!  I think it's cool tho.

it's cool -- works fine.  The coax mod merely cuts the male 7 pin head off of its cable and replaces the head with a rca termination.  NOTHING is done to the second (female) 7pin plug on the sbm-1's body and it will continue to feed a spdif signal.

my sbm1 is a coax/linestage modded.  I was previously using an odl-276 via the coax output.  Now i am using a homebrewed 7pin(male) > optical tx cable > jb3 which uses the female 7pin jack on the sbm-1.
