Topic: Recommendations for an ultra-wide T-Bar for omni's?

SSIA. Something around 24" or more wide that isn't too expensive? I'm soliciting ideas on how to run these at 10KLF -- assuming I can't run a wide split because I'll be jumping from stage to stage in a hurry.

What mics are you running?  I have a 24" solid, straight bar that I had for my small ATs when I first started.  It has small metal rings at each end to hold the mics.  If it will work for you, I'd be glad to send it to you in trade for a couple shows for something.

Doubt it...those would be much bigger than the ATs.  Sorry.

how about the bogen triple mic t-bar?  check it out at micsupply.com - it is 25.6 inches, but you will need adaptors.

I am buying a K&M 5 mic T-bar to run the Jecklin-type disk setup with omnis.  should be fun.

I like that 3 mic, 24" mount from mic supply that someone pointed out. Does anyone know if 24" is enough of a spread to get good stereo image from omnis?
I've got a pair of MBHO omnis that likes a 36" spread alot.

I think that is your best bet....

the project doesn't look too difficult, even if you had to buy all of the parts it wouldn't break the bank...

Another option (which relies on the graciousness of others) is to clamp on using those shorty clamp on bars that are used for drum micing (they are like 4-5 inches).  You can get the big spread of 2 or more feet that way.  Cheap, like less than $10 a clamp, I believe.

experiment with the omni's. I have run them split about 3' and about 8", both recordings came out fantastic, different, but both very listenable.

Take a hockey stick and cut the blade off, trim to desired spread, drill a hole in the center to place on stand, secure with duct tape or velcro, etc ., add a clamp on either end, works like a charm ...

Actually that's very similar to a friend of mine's setup.  He had a long piece of wood with a stand adapter in the middle.  He put some velcro on it and ran dpa4060s on it.  Made some great tapes...
