DVD Battery Cables for Grace Lunatec V3 (or other gear)
« on: August 05, 2014, 08:48:26 AM »
Recently I needed a battery cable for a DVD battery to use w/ a Grace V3 preamp.  These two items should work.  2.1mm 5.5mm for the V3 tip, and 1.7mm 4.0mm for the DVD battery (i.e. Lenmar DVDU9/DVDU923).  It's not a fancy cable, but it will work.

total = $5.25 + shipping

The proper connector for the lunatec V3 is a Switchcraft S760K locking type connector.  The one you linked may work but without the locking connector you run the risk of the cable dislodging.

I was going to add something about that.  The V3 tip is a little loose, but it works. Grace suggested using a small flat head screwdriver to widen the V3 end for a more snug connection, but I didn't want to mess with that.  This happened Saturday night... mid-second set (Phish) I noticed the cable came out, and for whatever reason (file saving/errors my biggest criticism of the DR-100) the file did not save when I hit record again.  Other than that, no issues w/ the V3 and it's field use build is awesome.  Recessed front panel, .5 second sample rate switching, and the step-gain knobs are excellent for field use.  I/O on the side would be good for potential updated versions (and of course internal battery).

From the Grace web site. After almost 10 years in production, the Lunatec V3 has been discontinued. As of this time there are no plans to announce its successor.    If you have one and still use it, do not worry because we will continue to support it for many years to come.

It's not as terrifying as it sounds. Just separate the two prongs so they make contact with the power connector.

Yeah, I know... I just didn't want to mess with the structure of the port.  I'll order a screw-on connector.

A locking connector will not help your situation if the center pins are still smashed together. You need to do this regardless.
